Sustainability

Farming with the planet in mind

Our operations go beyond fish: we plant trees, manage water responsibly and connect aquaculture with ecological regeneration.

Environmental stewardship

Healthy production depends on healthy systems

Sustainability is practical farm work: how water, feed, land, knowledge and livelihoods connect.

Tree planting

Tree planting

The Lake Front Fisheries team plants trees along the shoreline to help stabilise banks, reduce sedimentation and restore riparian habitats around the farm.

Community and environment

Community and environment

Entire teams participate in conservation drives, reinforcing a culture in which aquaculture and environmental health are inseparable goals.

Pond floating gardens

Pond floating gardens

Developed with Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University, the pond-based project explored integrated aquaculture and vegetable production.

Azolla as fish feed

Azolla as fish feed

We cultivate Azolla as a nutrient-rich, low-cost feed supplement that can reduce dependence on commercial feeds and support sustainable production.

Research collaboration

Floating gardens in ponds

Research becomes useful when it is tested in real production conditions.

With Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, we collaborated on floating gardens as a pond-based research project. The work explored how aquaculture and vegetable production could be integrated in a working farm environment.

AECF remains our main enterprise partner, supporting work with women and youth in aquaculture.

A connected approach

Environment, enterprise and community

The strongest outcomes reinforce one another instead of treating production, people and ecology as separate concerns.

Resource awareness

Monitoring farm conditions and improving how water, feed and production systems are managed.

Applied research

Testing ideas such as pond-based floating gardens and Azolla as a feed supplement.

Inclusive livelihoods

Equipping women, youth and farmers with practical knowledge and enterprise pathways.

Let’s build a stronger aquaculture value chain together.
